Actor/Character Profiles

Actors and Character Profile

Actor: Stephen Brennan
Playing the character of the unnamed psychiatrist. His character is the driving force towards unlocking the key to Johnny's past. His seemingly authoritive style gives him the power to ask and in some cases accuse Johnny of his past actions. In this respect he provides the componant which allows the context of the film to become apparent i.e the flash back scenes to take place with a purpose.

The screenshot on the right shows Brennan as the psychiatrist. His role is played with a serious authority which is intended so Johnny in a state of insanity will pay attention. However, his role takes on a more devil-like quality when he reveals that Johnny is actually dead. His dark humour is to impose an ironic quality upon the film as it was all a dream. We want to give the impression that memory of the devil-like phcriatirst will play on Johnny's mind long after he wakes up...perhaps to the point of insanity.

Actor: Angus Bentham
Playing the main character who reflects on his decline into insanity. His character is jittery, self-conscience, and constantly over shadowed by the guilt from murdering his girlfriend. In this respect it is evident that his mental state is his downfall. The idea that this whole concept is a dream highlights his ability to decline into insanity in his real life - Furthermore making a statement of the potential of humanity in general.

The screenshot on the left shows Bentham practicing lines before we started filming in the studio. This sort of preparation was vital so not only the actor knew what to do with confident, but also for efficiency.
The screenshot on the left shows Bentham's character in the midst on his first vision/decline into insanity.

The screenshot on the left is a closeup of Bentham's character in the psychiarist's meeting. The character in this scene must convey his full turn into insanity.
